Ticket Questions

We encourage people to purchase tickets in advance so they can go directly to the ticket gate and not have to wait in line to purchase tickets first. There is NO guarantee that any certain type of ticket will be available at the gate for purchase. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons should plan accordingly. Day Sail tickets are popular and limited and have a tendency to sell-out well in advance of the actual event. Please plan accordingly.

ALL PASSENGERS regardless of age require a ticket on Sail Aways and the Parade of Sail.  Please note: per Captain's orders, children under 5 years old are not suitable for riding on the Sail Aways as there are no baby/toddler life jackets available on the ships.

Kids ages four (4) and under do not require a ticket to tour the ships at the docks with a Boarding Pass.

Boarding Passes will get you a tour on the static ships open for Ship Tours, and Sail Away tickets will get you on the 90-120 min sailings.

Please attend to children at all times.

The only ticket limits are for the specific Sail Away trips, as there is limited space aboard each participating ship.

A ticket is for one person only and must be retained by that person. Tickets cannot be transferred to another individual.

Yes, you’ll be able to avoid standing in a lengthy ticket purchase line by purchasing in advance. You’ll also receive festival updates prior to the event, which might include parking and shuttle information.

The VIP ticket is an exceptional way to experience Tall Ships® Charleston. Your pass will include a 3-day fast pass to all the ships at the festival docks. Take a break from the weather in our air-conditioned VIP tent complete with complimentary food and beverages available during public festival hours. We would also like to welcome you to our invite-only Open Ship Party on the evening of Friday, May 19. Enjoy an evening of food, beverages, and fun on a participating Tall Ship®. Finally, we will offer you free parking on each day that you attend the festival.

Yes, you may purchase a ship tour ticket for one day and a sailing ticket for another day.  Sail Away tickets and daily Boarding Passes are separate tickets. You may purchase as many of each as you like, depending upon availability.

No, they are separate tickets. Boarding Passes will get you a tour on the static ships open for Ship Tours and Sail Away tickets will get you on the 90-120 min sailings. Understand that ships that are underway on Sail Away voyages will not be available for tours, so if you definitely want to see one of the Sail Away vessels we recommend getting your voyage tickets asap.

 

General Questions

No backpacks are allowed in to the festival. No firearms, incendiary devices, or weapons, of any kind, are permitted to be on festival grounds. All personal belongings, bags, and purses will be subject to search at the entrance gate. We do recommend that you plan for some delay to go through security screening at the entrance gate. No waterbottles are allowed.

Yes! Photography and Video is encouraged!

Yes, patrons may wear costumes, but weapons (even plastic replicas) are not permitted.

No coolers, cans, bottles, beverages, water bottles, food, liquids, and glass are allowed into the Festival grounds. Exception: special food related to a health or medical condition, and food for feeding a baby must be contained in plastic containers. Small coolers no larger than 5 quarts will be permitted to utilize for baby food/formula and medicine. All items are subject to search at the entrance gate.

Only registered service animals are allowed on site.

Sail Aways are approximately 90 minutes in length. The sail route will take you to the bridge and back depending on wind and weather. Tickets to sail on a participating ship will be available soon.

The majority of the festival grounds are handicap accessible.

Access to the ships, however, requires people to traverse the gangways under their own power...so unfortunately no walkers, wheelchairs, or scooters.

Parking is available on-site and only $5 daily, per entry.

Approximately 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017. This is a pre-festival event!

The parade route will start at Fort Sumter and travel to the Battery, by the waterfront, under the bridge, and finally back to the Old Charleston Naval Shipyard.

Note: Start time is wind and weather dependent, we cannot publish an exact time.

Yes, there will be food trucks and beverage stations on the festival grounds.

Water, soft drinks, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.

Please be sure to buy your food/drink tickets early so you will not have to wait in line during peak dining hours.

Do to the nature of the event, and proximity to both Naval and Coast Guard operations, drones and quadcopters will not be allowed.

Strollers are permitted on festival grounds and will be subject to inspection at the entrance. Please note that strollers may not have access to all areas of the festival for safety reasons.

Beverages are available for purchase at the event, however food and beverages are not permitted on the ships. The Sail Away ships may sell drinks once leaving the dock.

Selfie sticks are not permitted.
